Central Georgia CARES throws a grand party to celebrate the 5th birthday of Macon’s rescue rock star.  Watch the fun from the Children’s Industrial Home, including the wildly popular Doxie Derby and mascot dance-off.

 

Health & Safety Fair (3:10)

The United Way, 100 Black Men and Macon’s Promise Neighborhood step up to the plate to address health and safety in Macon-Bibb, and bring back a shining star among Southwest High School graduates for the keynote – the first black woman set to lead a free standing medical college.         

 

Poverty in Macon – Food for Children (2:58)

Despite growth and prosperity in Macon-Bibb, 24% of local families live below the poverty level and 78% of public school children qualify for free or reduced breakfast and lunch.  Mentors Project Executive Director June O’Neal fights to feed families in need. 

 

Teen Dating Violence Awareness – March 2014 (3:48)

Relationship violence can be a killer.  Since 2003, 1,203 Georgia women died at the hands of their abusers – 32 in Bibb County.  The best hope is prevention through education.  Local advocacy groups collaborate to teach teens and parents how to recognize unhealthy relationships and to seek help and resources if needed.
