Macon-Bibb County celebrated the completion of major improvements at West Macon Park ( 5018 Mercer University Drive, behind Harley Davidson of Macon and Olympia Family Fun Center) with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday, May 8.

Improvements to the field included building a new entrance and raised scorer tables, and rebuilding all but one of the baseball fields, which meant replacing all fencing, dugouts, and the field itself. The road leading to the ball field near the rear of the Park was also paved, and a walking path along the exterior of the park was added. This project was funded with $560,000 from the Blight Remediation Program and voter-approved Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). The blight funds came from the allocations for Districts 3, 6, and 7.
