On FridayMarch 2, Animal Welfare will be cutting adoption fees for dogs and cats in an effort to find “furever homes” for animals and to reduce overcrowding in the shelter. The shelter will open on Friday, March 2 at 11:00 a.m. and stay open until midnight.

The first 24 adoption Friday will be $25 per dog and $12.50 per cat, thanks to a sponsorship from Blues Painting and Home Repair. After the first 24, the fees will be reduced to $50 per dog and $25 per cat (with an approved adoption application).

The shelter is only allowed to house about 80 dogs and 40 cats, and they are currently at 134 dogs and 32 cats. The goal is to get at least 54 dogs and 30 cats adopted, rescued, or fostered through Friday night to avoid having to euthanize animals.

The Department will be working with the following groups to help find the animals more permanent homes.

  • Pixel Fund
  • All About Animals Rescue
  • Go Dogs Go
  • Rock on Rescue
  • Pawsome Southern Rescue
  • S.O.S.

  • Peach County Animal Rescue
  • StarBright
  • Critical Care for Animal Angels
  • Barkers Good Pups
