Memorial Intersection Dedication Ceremony for PFC James Roy Newberry from MaconBibbTV on Vimeo.

PFC James Roy Newberry was killed while serving in the military between December 1952 and December 1953. His body was never found, but his legacy lives on through his family and community. Now, a Lizella intersection is named in his honor so those driving by will never forget his sacrifice. The intersection, at Bethel Church Road and Knoxville Road, now contains a sign before each stop sign bearing Newberry’s name. A ceremony was held at Bethel Baptist Church on Friday morning, June 14, to recognize Newberry’s family and honor their sacrifice, while paying tribute to a life cut too short.
