The Frank Johnson Recreation Center upgrade was made possible with a lot of citizen input, and $939,000 in voter-approved SPLOST funds. Johnson passed away in 2016, but his legacy is just as strong as it ever was. He was lovingly nicknamed the Mayor of Unionville because of the work he put into the community. His wife and daughter were at the ribbon cutting to share memories of him, and carry on his mission to provide a place for young people to stay active and off the streets. You can see more from that ribbon cutting in this MaconBibbTV video. To hear the complete remarks from Dorothy and Cheryl Johnson, click here.
