Macon-Bibb County and its partners will hold its annual Earth Day festival on April 20 at Tattnall Square Park from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

People of all ages will be able to enjoy a vendors market with local produce and educational materials, and there will be a kids zone with games, prizes, face-painting, and more. The Southeastern Reptile Rescue is bringing live animals you can interact with, and Idyll Acres Rescue Ranch will be there with their mini-horse, Poppy Boy.

In addition to the fun and interactive offerings, people will be able to learn about ways to go green at work, home, and school, and on the go. They will be able to sign up for Macon-Bibb County’s new recycling program and learn what can and can’t be put in the new 65-gallon bins.

Green Team

“We want to teach people how to preserve our natural resources now, and show children the importance of taking care of Earth,” says Parks & Beautification Department Assistant Director Sam Kitchens.

Everyone can also learn about gardening, healthy eating, general wellness, and more- all while enjoying live music, in a beautiful setting.

“This our second year celebrating Earth Day in Tattnall Square Park. It’s grown every year! We have numerous environmental educators and exhibitors, in addition to the Mulberry Market, animal rescue groups, and tons of kids activities. We welcome all of Macon to help us celebrate this year’s theme- Trees for the Earth,” added Lacey Templeton, Program Specialist for Community Health Works.
