A skatepark like no other in the area is open now at Central City Park. District 2 Commissioner Larry Schlesinger spoke at the grand opening of the facility, and called it ‘the coolest place in Macon’; and it’s truly something special. You can see skaters break it in, as the community celebrated the grand opening in this MaconBibbTV feature. There are ramps and rails and vert pipes and dozens of skateboarders ready to practice their craft. The skatepark is just one piece of the $3.7 million dollar upgrade at Central City Park. The project also included demolishing 9 worn-down buildings to make way for new multi-purpose fields, renovated and new bathroom facilities, new pavilions, sidewalks, RV hookups, and more.
